March 1 - Day 1

Today was a good start to our trip. After having battery issues, we finally got out of the school parking lot. We drove for four or five hours before meeting up with Rick Carson in a Hardee’s parking lot. From there, we drove up a mountain, to a dirt road (or more like a mud road).

After driving up the road for a while, we got to a point we couldn’t pass due to all the mud. We got out and walked up to the top of the mountain.

We passed an open pit coal mining site on the way to the wind farm. We finally got to the turbines (they were over 200 feet tall!). The trees there were covered with rime formations (ice that formed by clouds condensing on them then the water freezing).

We talked to Rick for a while about the wind farm then went back to the van.

We drove about another hour to H.E. Biddle’s hunting lodge.

We ate lasagna and listened to H.E.’s man tracking and animal hunting stories. I particularly liked the wild boar trophy head mounted on the second story. Thank you, God bless you, and God bless the P.E.E. Trip.
